There are majorly three types of FSSAI Food License:

  1. FSSAI Basic Registration
  2. FSSAI State License
  3. FSSAI Central License

Types of FSSAI License

    1. FSSAI Registration

    The Food business operators like petty food manufacturers and also the small-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors etc are thus required to obtain the FSSAI Registration. The FSSAI Registration is however issued by the State Government. Depending upon the eligibility, an FBO can thus fall under the State or Registration license. It is thus mostly for the units having an annual turnover which is up to 12 lakh. The maximum tenure of this license is 5 years and the minimum is 1 year.

      

    When do you need FSSAI Registration

    • An FBO with an annual turnover of not more than Rs. 12 Lakhs
    • Petty retailer dealing in food products
    • A person who manufactures or sells any food article by himself
    • Food sale is done by the temporary stall holder
    • Any individual who distributes food in any religious or social gathering except a caterer
    • Small-scale or cottage industries dealing in the food business

    2. FSSAI Registration State License

      Food business operators like small to medium-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors etc. are however required to obtain the Fssai State License. The State License is issued by the State Government and it is important that you have operations in only 1 state, in order to obtain the State license. It is thus mostly for the units having an annual turnover of more than 12 lakh. The maximum tenure of this license is 5 years and the minimum is 1 year.

        

      When do you need FSSAI State License

      • Dairy Units processing or chilling 501 to 50,000 LPD
      • Slaughter Units processing 50 animals or 1000 kg/day
      • meat processing units processing upto 500 kg of meat per day
      • YFood processing units processing 2MT/day.
      • large industries dealing in the food business

      3. FSSAI Registration Central License

        Food business operators like small to medium-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors etc. are however required to obtain the Fssai State License. The State License is issued by the State Government and it is important that you have operations in only 1 state, in order to obtain the State license. It is thus mostly for the units having an annual turnover of more than 12 lakh. The maximum tenure of this license is 5 years and the minimum is 1 year.

          

        When do you need FSSAI Central License

        • 100% export units
        • Dairy Units processing or chilling more than 50,000 LPD
        • Slaughter Units processing more than 50 animals or 1000 kg/day
        • meat processing units processing more than 500 kg of meat per day
        • Food processing units processing more than 2MT/day.
        • Proprietary Food Business Operators.
